Vehicle Registration Procedure

It is the responsibility of each department to register and tag their vehicles each year as required by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV). The following procedure should help to simplify the process.

  1. New Vehicle Purchase-If the dealership charges for the tax and title, they will handle this process and either mail the tag and registration to us or will call us to pick it up.

    However, if the vehicle is purchased through a state contract, the dealership will not charge for the tax and title so we will have to handle the process.

    To register your departments’ vehicle, you will need the following items:

    1. Invoice/bill of sale (original)

    2. Odometer Disclosure Statement (original)

    3. Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle (original)

    4. Loyola fleet insurance card

    Items A-C will be provided by the dealership. You will receive item D from the Office of Risk Management. Payment can be made to ABC Title with a University credit card.

  2. Renewal-you should receive your renewal notice through the mail and may pay this through the usual procurement process.
